Easter

I'm back! Mr Kitten and I had a lovely time in Lapland, most of the time anyways. Skiing when it's raining isn't something I recommend...But on the dance floor we noted that we had actually gotten slightly better at dancing, so that was nice.

Here we are having lunch in a restaurant at the top of a small mountain.

Today it's back to work for me, I can't believe how quickly time always goes when you're off! Back to reality...

Got my bags packed

My recently purchased second-hand suitcase is packed, I've got my pin-culrs in and a WWII inspired oufit waiting to be worn. I'm going away for an other cultural caravan weekend, my brother is starring in "The lion, the witch and the wardrobe" at the theatre (set during WWII, hence the outfit) tonight and tomorrow we'll be shopping and in the evening I'll be trying out my new dancing shoes! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The long lost and forgotten; Mallorca part II

I never did tell you how the rest of our trip to Mallorca went did I? Well, it's about time then!

On the third day we rented a car and drove across the island to visit the "cavern of the dragon", an amazing and long cave complete with underground lake and guards shouting at every visitor who dares to try and take a photo...

After the cave we went to a drive through safari park where we saw this little fellow;

And this;

Another kitten;

The following day we drove down this winding road...

...to some pretty high places.

The views were amazing!

Saturday we had a lazy beach day.

And on sunday we went to the aquarium.

The last day we spent shopping and that's when I found the shoes!

Oh, how I wish I could be somewhere that warm and sunny again, I had to wear a hat and gloves on the way to work early this morning! Oh well, I'll just have to try and see the good in all of this, among other things, I should be able to use that muff I bought soon! But now I'm off to learn the foxtrot with mr Kitten.

Mallorca part 1

Our holiday in Mallorca was the first time that I went on one of those charter trips, and I really enjoyed it. The first day we rented bikes and rode along the the beach Playa de Palma in Arenal where our hotel was situated. I swam in the mediterranean for the first time, the water was so clear and warm, fantastic!

The following day we went sight-seeing in the capital, Palma de Mallorca, where we visited the grand cathedral.

Then we took a sight-seeing bus to Bellver castle, high above the city.

I posed as a statue.

The view from the castle was pretty magnificent. After our sight-seeing we went shopping and then back to the hotel for some all-inclusive food and drinks. I do recommend this all inclusive stuff, made life so much easier to always have food available. Stay tuned for part 2!

Winterkitten

So I finally got round to transferring some pictures to my computer, so, let me introduce to you, my new red shoes! Funnily enough, they don't even look red in this picture, but trust me, they are about the same colour as the top I'm wearing...These are the red version of the black hushpuppies shoes I blogged about a while back. The gray ones I have yet to photograph.

I really haven't had much time to go thrifting lately, but I was lucky enough to find a new charity shop close to my new home, and here's what I got at my first visit;

Two pairs of vintage gloves and a nice belt-the type I've actually been on the lookout for!

And finally a couple of shots of me in the slopes of Iso-Syöte, Lapland. I finally found myself a nice sporty and practical jacket so that I can throw away the ugly 3 sizes too big hand-me-downs I've been using the last couple of years. It's amazing how much more fun it was to be outside when I was wearing something I felt good in.

Back from Milan

Hello everybody! I've been back from Milan for a few days now, and I've finally got round to putting up some pics from the trip. Most of them taken by me and my brand new used canon eos 350D! I'm so pleased with my new toy, and my bf was also quite impressed by the picture quality. Alright, so here we go. We arrived in Milan late afternoon, checked in at the hotel and started to explore the city.

The first thing we wanted to see was the Sfortza Castle and the pretty fountain in front of it. At 5 o'clock when it got dark the castle lit up and there was music and a little light show.

There was a tram covered in lights driving around.

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the shopping centre right outside the duomo, where all the fancy shops like Prada, Gucci etc were situated. But, everything was closed. Come on, it was new years eve! But yes really, only a few small and expensive looking restaurants were open.

The Duomo at night, with a large flower and light covered christmastree in front of it. By this time in the evening it was snowing wet snow and it was pretty cold aswell. The lack of open places to go made us return to the hotel for drinks at the bar and then bed. The thought of going back out there in the cold to see the fireworks, and then try to somehow get back to the hotel after the underground stopped running didn't appeal. So we fell asleep. No wonder, we did get up at 3 that morning...

The following day, after a breakfast consisting mainly of biscuits and tiny bits of white bread, we returned to the duomo to have a look inside. It was amazing, and huge, and full of details.

After seeing the inside we took a lift up and saw it from above, even more details and a pretty good view over the city as well.

Here I am, showing off my new glasses on top of the duomo.

The view from the side of the cathedral.

As all the shop were still closed, we went for a walk in the park. As you can see, it wasn't exactly a suntrip we were on.

I said hi to Napoleon.

And we had dinner in a fancy restaurant. And a fast food place or two, as I mentioned before, most places were closed. But I managed to fulfill my goals of eating a real italian pizza - made and served in italy, as well as a plate of real italian pasta.

The following night we got up at three, again, and caught a bus back to the airport. When we landed in Finland we had breakfast and spent the following 5 hours or so in the ideapark shopping centre outside tampere. I bought some earrings, socks and stockings, underwear from Gina Tricot, and from Eurokangas a piece of fake fur out of which I intend to make a muff to warm my hands in. Fur -both real and fake- seemed to be all the rage among the 90% of russian passengers who flew out to Milan on the same plane as us. Just in case you wondered.

All in all I'm very pleased with the trip, although Milan is probably much nicer in the summer and when places are open. But still, I got to fulfill my shopping desires back in ideapark, so I'm not complaining. I hope you've all had a good start to the new year!

Change of plans

Guess where this kitten will be spending new years eve? In Milan! My bf has a long holiday over x-mas and he wanted to go somewhere...So we're taking a ryanair flight over to Milan for a (very) short stay. I'm so excited!

The camera I wanted was unfortunately sold, so now, unless another one for as good a price shows up, I'll be putting my monies towards the trip. Can't have it all!

Right, now I need to get ready for work again. This week is not that great, work from 13 to 21 every day? I have no time to do my own thing! Well, it'll be over soon. Right?
