Busy bee

Wow. Time goes so fast, I cannot believe that I'm gonna be moving this upcoming weekend! I've already worked a week at my new job and liked it so far, so I'm pleased. At the moment I am filling boxes and boxes with stuff - where did all of these thing come from?! It's not like when I moved as a student, no, now I've got furniture, lamps, rugs and curtains and so on.

During the last five years I've moved at least six times, to Karis, Åland, England, (3-4 different places) Finland and now within Finland again. Strangely enough this is the first time I get to decide everything and decorate according to how I want it. I'm getting more and more exited. But now I should really get back to packing. Tomorrow my internet moves - before I do, how will I manage a day without it? Anyway, packing...

New job - old shoes

So today was the day. Arrived on time, barely, met some people, did some work, learned some stuff on the computer and in a swoosh my first day at my new job was over. It went really fast and yes, I did enjoy it. I think I'm gonna be quite happy working in a shop-environment again.

These shoes are a find that my god-mother made years back, and lended me to wear at different old-fashion markets. She hasn't asked for them back yet...But considering the small size of these shoes, there's not really anybody in her famliy who'd be able to wear them anyway. I'm not complaining!

I seem to have phases of downloading loads of inspirational images from the internet. A couple of months back it was illustrations from vintage patterns, now it's pin-ups, such as this one:

Beautifully painted, lovely colours, fantastic light and so on. And the hair and clothes! Ah, the glamour! In some ways being born a few decades earlier would have been pretty awesome, but in other ways we have come so far when it comes to womens rights etc that I don't mind living now either. Just can't have it all.

Freedom!

Today was my last day working as a cleaner. The job was tough, sweeping floors for 4-5 hours is a pretty good work-out, but it is also pretty straining for your shoulders and arms, your back and your knees, all areas where problems have started to appear lately...So tomorrow morning I'm treating myself to a massage!

Although I didn't care too much for the job itself I did quite like the atmosphere and the people who I cleaned around. But I do wonder what it says about me that the people I got along with the best were 36+ aged males...? Ok, so there weren't many women working there either but still. This is how lovely I looked:
But no more! From now on I'll be cleaning dressed like this:

Or something along those lines...So now I've got two days off before I start my new job. I'm getting a bit nervous for it but I should be fine - after a few weeks or so. I hope. But I'm sure it'll be a whole lot better than cleaning toilets.

First 40's-style hairdo attempt

Yesterday my H&M package arrived in the post and I was pretty exited. But then I remembered that I only ordered some boring basics in boring basic colours. I am way to sensible when bying new clothes, always thinking about what other pieces of clothing it will match and how "timeless" it is, in other words, most of the stuff is pretty basic.

Anyway, here I'm wearing my new and very exiting gray tights. Ehem. Also a black skirt and top, second hand, and the vest I bought at the Juthbacka market. Shoes are my grandmothers old and the 8mm camera belonged to my grand-dad until I um, borrowed it.

Inspired by Miriam I spent an hour trying to get an acceptable looking hairdo. I kinda like it, even though it didn't turn out exactly how she made it. My hair is a bit too short for this aswell so I improvised a bit and made my own rat-thingy out of some foam hair-curlers. Not too bad for a first timer eyh? Still could use a bit more practice though.

On a different subject, I now have only one day left at my cleaning job! How strange. I then have two days off to recover before my new job starts. On my first day in between jobs I've booked myself an appointment for a massage to really get the cleaning out of my system, hah. Tidying my flat won't feel like such a massive task anymore when I'm used to cleaning for 6-7 hours a day...

Life on mars

So I got myself a flat to rent in the new town. It'll be cheaper and a little bit smaller than what I live in now, and everything in it is brand new, never been used. Here's the best bit - a walk-in closet! Or, really just a storage room but hey, close enough! Now I'm just wondering wether to put my full-size mirror in the closet, in the hallway next to it or in the smallish bedroom. Or maybe I'll just get myself a second mirror...
The other day I felt like doing my grocery shopping in 70's style, so I wore dad's old trousers along with mum's old leather jacket, which I use a lot anyway. Scarf is just some cheapish thingy from Matalan.
These beauties are one of my favourite buys of the summer, they only cost me € 10 from a flea-market I visited when camping in Kuopio. Not really suited for camping though, hah. A bit tricky to wear for longer periods of time, as the strings won't stay in place if moving around too much. The string marks on my legs were still visible the day after I wore these shoes for my bf's cousin's birtday party a while back. But I can't help loving them...

Summer tribute vol.2 and some big news

Big news first - I got a new job! Nothing fancy but nicer than cleaning. In about two weeks time I will be stocking shelves and helping customers in the home-department of a larger supermarket in Jakobstad. Feels great, I've worked in a shop before and enjoyed it, plus pay is better, shifts are better (only work every third saturday) and I get a discount!

New job means I will be looking for a new flat in the new town...Hopefully a bit cheaper than this rip-off I live in at the moment. I'm pretty exited but at the same time not so thrilled about the actual packing and sorting through stuff. Perhaps a wardrobe clean-out is in order...?

So this is my second summer tribute outfit - another one I never wore. Checked top is old from Halpa-halli, sunglasses and scarf from Prisma and the rest is my mum's old stuff. Dunno if I would actually feel comfortable wearing this, green-yellowish colours are not really my cup of tea normally. But hey, variation is always nice.

Kitten goes international

For a while now I've been thinking about changing my blogging language to English. So I'm using the beginning of a new month as an excuse. I rarely use my english skills anymore, living back in Finland again, so maybe this will be a way to keep my English going.

The weekend meant the end of summer-cottage season in my area, so me and my boyfriend visited the Venetziad-festival in Kokkola. Venetziad is the festival of fire, air and water or something, so there was fire dancers and fireworks and live music and a samba dancing show.

My boyfriend also surprised me with some lovely flowers as we've been together for 6 months tomorrow. Now I'm wondering wether I need to get him somehing too...
On sunday we went for a little shopping trip and I ended up bying myself another pair of shoes. But "proper" ones this time - trecking boots! Waterproof and so on, only 20 € due to them being last season.
And today I had a job interview which went pretty well, on wednesday I'll find out exactly how well... Afterwards I went to visit a friend of mine who is about 4 moths pregnant. She and her partner and their 2 year old daughter have recently moved into their newly built house and the place was really nice. Kinda makes me wanna do the whole family and house thing but, why rush? Besides 6 months is such a short time, I want to get to know this guy I'm dating a bit better before jumping ahead of things. But now I need to go to bed...
