Finds from Juthbacka

A couple of weeks ago I went to this huge market held once a year not too far from here. Apart from the muff, I also came home with this 1 euro scarf;

Two pairs of gloves (2,50 € each).

And an old curtain;

Which I turned into this;

I also bought a hat and a 50's swimsuit, but I haven't photographed those yet.

After being well for almost 1 year and a half, I have now got a cold. Nothing to do with pigs, I hope, and it's not that bad at the moment so perhaps I'll survive...Hope you've all had a wonderful and flu free weekend!

White vintage

As I've said before, finding vintage clothes around the area where I live is pretty rare. That is why I had to go all he way to Pori to find this dress with matching jacket;

Ten euros is what I paid for the set, not bad...

Here's a view of the hat I mad as well, and yes, I wore both the hat and the jacket to my friends wedding.


I added some turtle doves to the hat before that though;

Old fashioned market

On friday when my holiday started I got all dressed up and travelled along this beautiful road.

At the end of the road there was an "old fashioned market", where people sold lot's of hand made stuff. My mother was there selling her pottery, and me - I embraced the opportunity to wear some of the few vintage item that I happen to own. This was the result;

The suit is the one that was too big and that I've been working on for a while, and I think it's from the forties. The rest is all second hand/vintage stuff, apart from the shoes, they are my beloved hush puppies.

The whole outfit cost about 20 euros, the seamed stocking being the cheapest item of only 10 cents. And I had tried to curl my hair a bit with this hot air curler I've got, but what a bad investment, the curls lasted a maximum of 20 minutes...

Sadly, this was not the car I arrived in...

This was pretty much the first time I wore all vintage outside the house, and let me tell you, it did not go unnoticed...Funny, because the were other (sellers) there dressed in an old fashioned style. But ok, they had gone more for the poor peasant style. I felt watched. I do not feel ready to go out on the town dressed like this. 50's inspired style is so much easier to get away with.

They are doing a play at this same location, and both my dad and my youngest brother (who took the shots of me) are acting in it. Due to my outfit I was actually asked if I'm in the play also, as some of the actors were walking around in costume. In 18th century costume. I guess nobody will know if I'm mixing 40's, 50's and 60's fashion in the future, if they can't tell 1770's clothes from 1940's.

Right, now I'm off to do some packing, because we're leaving for Mallorca tomorrow night! If I don't have time to blog before then, have a wonderful week everybody!

Winterkitten

So I finally got round to transferring some pictures to my computer, so, let me introduce to you, my new red shoes! Funnily enough, they don't even look red in this picture, but trust me, they are about the same colour as the top I'm wearing...These are the red version of the black hushpuppies shoes I blogged about a while back. The gray ones I have yet to photograph.

I really haven't had much time to go thrifting lately, but I was lucky enough to find a new charity shop close to my new home, and here's what I got at my first visit;

Two pairs of vintage gloves and a nice belt-the type I've actually been on the lookout for!

And finally a couple of shots of me in the slopes of Iso-Syöte, Lapland. I finally found myself a nice sporty and practical jacket so that I can throw away the ugly 3 sizes too big hand-me-downs I've been using the last couple of years. It's amazing how much more fun it was to be outside when I was wearing something I felt good in.

Shopaholic warning

I must have spent almost 60 euros on clothes in the last week or so. It's not like me. A small consolation is that most if it was spent on second hand stuff where some of the money actually goes to charity...But today I wasn't gonna do any shopping. Just check out the sale and lack of shoes in my size in "Shoe stop". And would you believe it, they actually have a few pairs in size 35. But none i liked enough to spend 40-60 euro or more. But I will return...

After the quick shoe shop visit I had to see what was left of the sales...and ended up buying a very useful strapless bra and these supercute panties;

Also bought the flower pin for a mere 2 euros. But back to my crazy shopping spree. Last friday there was a sale at a charity shop in town that I hadn't been to before, so naturally, I had to go. Ehem. But I'm really glad I did, as I only spent 5 euros for about 10 items and found these;

Four pairs of vintage gloves!! After I got desperate enough to make my own, I go and find these for the ridiculous price of 50 cents each. Madness. But I'm pleased.

Saturday I went on a flea market tour in the town where my boyfriend lives ,while he was out to play tennis. This is when the madness started, as I found myself buying items in colours previously unseen in my wardrobe. These linen trousers for example. I love linen. Just didn't expect to wear anything orange...

The second crazy item was in pink, another colour I never wear normally. But how could I resist? I mean, look how cool it looks, teamed with my first attempt at a pill box hat, black gloves, a good skirt and nice shoes. I'd love to have a few more items that would make me feel this glamorous. Still need to work on that hat though.

My leopard print obsession continues. This bag cost me a fiver in the sales. The benefit - or curse? - of working in a supermarket is seeing all the sales stuff day after day after day...

I've got plenty more stuff to show from my out of control shopping spree, but this will have to do for now. Hope I've been able to spread some inspiration :)
