Yes or go?

I found this home made dress in a charity shop a few weeks ago. I think it might even be from the 30's or 40's? Anyway, I've got a few issues with it. Firstly, it's too big (or I'm too small?). Secondly, it's not really my colour, I have nothing that goes with it, I'm not sure I go with it. And last, it has a small rip on the back, which could easily be fixed, but what's the point if I'm not gonna wear it?

So what do you think? Should I alter it and most likely leave it hanging in my closet for years (until I find some shoes/whatever that goes with it, if I ever do) or should I try and sell it to someone who would love it and wear it? I'm guessing it's about a size 38, but I'd be happy to take some measurements if anybody is interested...Let me know!

Alter it. It has an unusual cut that is hard to find and it will be easy to match it with things. :)

I'd alter it. You can always sell it after, but if you put a black belt and black shoes it'll look great or even a brown belt and brown shoes... as long as your accessories match they'll suit the dress.

It's beautiful though... how much would you be looking to sell it for if you did: somewhereovertheskyline (@) live.co.uk

Don't alter it! One never knows what happens when old clothes get altered, and if you're not even sure you'd want it... No, sell it on Tradera/Ebay instead. Or to one of us gals here =)
I just love the details on it, it looks very late 30s. I'll defenitley lay a bid if you should decide to sell! =)

sell it. if you have so much to alter and fix it's not really worth it, and the risk of destroying it is quite big. i mean, to make it look good you'd have to chop of at least 20cm, plus take it in a lot at the sides and at the back. plus fixing the rip in the back. plus not knowing if you'll ever wear it because it's not your colour scheme. seems like to many things that don't really work.

Maila mig gärna om du vill sälja den! Kom på att min mail nog inte står på profilen, så konfunderande med alla dessa sidor... =) Jag finns på b_akire@yahoo.se.
Ha det bra!

Hm, I have read all your comments and appreciate your advice. I'll probably sell it, I just need some time to get the measurements and more photos and so on, but I'll make a new post about it when I get there, have a nice weekend everyone!

sell it. the print is too large for your petite frame, although the style is great. you *could* take it apart carefully and try to create a pattern from it if you really like the design, but that would require a LOT of altering. better to sell it to someone who will fit it right off the bat!
