What I was doing all last week

This is my latest project, a full bell skirted dress complete with cape for those cool summer nights.

It's pretty much all my own creation, from pattern to finished product. And this is why it took me days to finish - I'm not that good at making patterns yet...

I've also been working on another sewing project, which I'll show you once it's finished. AND I've cut my hair, but that's another story...

Thanks ladies! :)

The matching cape idea came from some of the beautiful vintage pattern illustrations found at http://www.sovintagepatterns.com

Lovely! Just lovely outfit!
That's a very nice pattern, you're so talented to make that from scratch. And long time? A week? I suddenley feel very slow at the sewing machine...
Hope you had a great weekend!

Erika, Tette; Tusen tack! Kul att ni gillar! :)

Erika; Thanks, but I did have a pattern for a completely different dress, which I then modified beyond recognition, leaving nothing but a small portion of the back according to the original...So it's not entirely completely from scratch, sorry if I made it sound like it was :/ I'm not THAT good ;)

Lol! Then we're at the same level, I have one pattern that I always start with, no matter what I'm making, and then I modify it. So practical... =) I really want to take a class for patternmaking, though. Seriousley considering it for the spring semester!
P.S. Still just as impressed! ; ) That's very fast work with great result!

Erika; Heh, I have several of those patterns, and none of them seem to fit me from the beginning, so there is always a lot of modifying to be done when I make something. I recon I should do a base pattern from my own measurements sometime, something to base all my other patterns on-kind of thing...

If you can take a course in pattern making - go for it! Might turn out to be a very useful skill you know ;)

wow the dress turned out amazing. SO cute and I love the matching cape. You did such a great job and I cant believe you drafted the pattern your self this dress could easily pass for a 1950's vogue pattern.
