Finds from Vaasa

Check out my new lamp (below). I was trilled to find it, as I'm always on the lookout for 50's items to give our home a more retro look. It cost me 15 euros from the Jupiter-second hand shop in Vaasa.

In Vaasa I also picked up a few other items, such as the shirts below, the white bracelet and the sandals I'm wearing.

The shorts used to be my mothers and both handbags are second hand. The next item I almost regret buying. The waist is waay to high on me, what was I thinking?

Similar thoughs come to mind looking at the next top, why did I get it? I have something similar but better, on this top the checks feel somehow too big...Shoes from Ellos.

The shoe laces would look better in white, don't you think? I also picked up some other bits and pieces, the flower is and actual hat pin, yay!

Now I just can't wait for the weather to get warmer so that I can go out in these clothes without freezing to death...

I know what you mean about freezing! It's rainy and cold here and it's May! I love your finds. That check shirt will be nice when it gets hot. I love all your outfits, you have an eye for picking things out.

i know what you mean about the white dress (is it from the madonna for h&m-line from way back when?) - maybe you can fix it by creating a lower waistline with a belt in a different colour? the arms are fantastic, sá it would be a shame to not try to find a way how to wear it...

Vintage Girl; It's been pretty cold here too, but that's pretty normal for may here in Finland. Oh, thanks!

Fröken Lila; Wow, how did you know what dress it was?! It was the arms that made me want it I think, I'll have to try it with a belt, hope it looks good, otherwise I'll have to try and sell it...

Hi Kitten, I have been following your blog for sometime as a lurker and never commented before. I am thinking about going no poo and wondered how it was going with you and whether you had noticed any problems with pin curling while using no shampoo. I ask because I have poker-straight hair and rely heavily on pin curling to get a vintage look and my only concern is I will no longer be bale to achieve this by going no poo. Your advice would be greatly appreciated and keep up the great work with your blog, Vicky :-)

Vintage Vicky; Nice to hear from you Vicky! Basically, when using water only, my pin-curls come out great and last for days (up to a week) especially if I roll them up again at night. If you can't get curls without using any products, washing with water only may not be your best option. On the other hand, some claim they get curls easier than before with no-poo. If you need to use any products, try to go for some without silicones, and wash with baking soda to get any leftover product out. Good luck with your experiment and don't loose hope even though the first few weeks may be quite greasy! And you can always ask if there's anything else you are wondering about...I'm happy to share my experiences!

Thank you so much for the advice. I will keep you posted on how I am getting on. I only wash my hair once a week as it is so I am hoping the transition period won't be too bad for me when I stop using shampoo. I have done a lot of research about this on the internet already and plan to also only use natural items for conditioner and colouring. I guess it will take some time and experimentation to get into a routine which suits my hair :-)

Vintage Vicky; Sounds like you're well on your way already! :D Best of luck!

Kitten, I wanted to leave you a message. In some ways you inspired me a while back with looking at my wardrobe and the amount of things I own. I really took to heart your message of having too much. So for me The gaps project is an effort for me to be intentional and not have too much stuff. I feel a burden has been lifted. Thanks for your words that got me thinking. I will mention this and you soon on my blog, if that okay? Wow wrote a book!

Vintage girl; Oh, wow, the internet is amazing isn't it? :D I'm glad if you feel like a burden has been lifted. I love it that we can inspire each other, and especially if we can inspire people to start living more eco-friendly and in other ways make this world a better place! Feel free to mention my blog if you want to, that's no problem, and good luck with your project!
