Two spring outfits while it's still spring

Before it gets to warm outside I have to show you the leopard jacket I bought from Haléns (on sale). I'm liking it so much that I almost wish it was colder outside. Almost...The skinny high-waisted jeans are from H&M and feel strange for me to wear as I'm used to wide legged trousers, but oh how I love the high waist!

Here's another outfit I wore out shopping a couple of days back, note the handbag! Hm, looking at the picture I begin to wonder if I should change the buttons of the jacket to white ones, would that still look ok with the gold coloured zippers on the sleeves? Or should I redo the sleeves in some way too, they are a bit long? But then again, the gold details on the jacket go well with the ones on the bag...

 

Today I'm a bit tired from working 7 days in a row (still two days to go!) but my spirit was lifted when I checked my work schedule for the next couple of weeks. I've got five days off in a row starting from next weeks friday! What to do, what to do? Where should I go? Long weekend trip to sweden? London? Paris? Or should I just stay home and sew like a mad woman? Oh, the possibilities! What would you do?

Close to completion

 I love my new handbag. It's not really new, of course, just new to me. I've been looking for one in navy for ages, if I only had a similar one in white and in red my handbag collection would be pretty much complete. Is that even possible? To have a complete collection? Will I really be able to stop looking at and buying handbags when it is? Only time will tell I guess...

Other than the fabulous handbag I have recently also found a basic slip to wear underneath dresses with wide enough shoulders (winter stuff).

And I so could not resist these swallows...only problem is, how to get them up on the wall? There's a hole at the back but when I put it on a nail the swallow tilted! Whoever put that hole there sure didn't put it in the right place, hah.

Back on track?

The past few weeks have been pretty stressful at work, leaving me with very little energy to be creative or go shopping or blog. But things are looking up, and I'm starting to feel more like myself again. On Saturday we had our work x-mas party, but as I had less than 2 hours to get ready when I got home from work, I didn't exactly have the time to take any outfit pictures...But this is the dress and shoes I wore;

I combined them with some black patterned stockings and this purse;

All vintage! I also tried my hand at making a Joan from mad men-inspired hairdo (following one of the many tutorials on youtube). It turned out pretty well, but as mentioned, no pictures to prove it...

Now that my energy and inspiration levels are more or less back to normal, I'm at a loss for what to do on my day off, (today) or rather, what to do first. Should I sew? Go to a flea-market? Just do housework? Try to do it all at the same time? Well, sitting here certainly won't get anything done, I'm off, have a nice day!

It's just soo lovely to have the time to do the things you want...

After my last post I walked into the kitchen and realized that I had forgotten to take a picture of another find at the juthbacka market...I have quite a few plants in the flat so this charming little table felt like something useful to have. And no, it does not bother me in any way that it is also very cute and retro.

As I've been on holiday this week, I've tried to get some projects done, such as revamping a pair of shoes which I haven't worn for a few years. Before;

From useless shoes to glamorous slippers to wear around the house, makes me feel a bit more luxurious than wearing woolly socks with my dressing gowns...

Another fun thing we did this week was taking a dance class, basics in Finnish tango. It was fun, but sadly, both Mr. Kitten and I feel like we've already forgotten most of it...

Just an outfit

I went for a little shopping trip on friday, and wore this outfit;

I visited two charity shops and I actually found a vintage dress for once, or at least I think it's vintage. But no pictures yet, sorry. I also found a cute red girls dress which I'm gonna turn into a skirt and a piece of houndstooth fabric. I just need to find the time and energy to sew and take pictures...But right now, I need to get ready for work. How do you motivate yourself to sew and/or blog?

2 vintage bags for 2 euros

Yesterday was my lucky day. I stopped by a charity shop on my way home from work and found these two beauties in a pile of random handbags in a corner under a clothes rack, hidden away from most shoppers. But not me, no, I dig. Sometimes that means I find something really good, most of the time it means Mr Kitten is somewhere getting tired of waiting for his crazy girlfriend...

Speaking of Mr Kitten, today it's been two years since we got together! *puss!*

More earrings...and handbags

I also found this mock-crock handbag for 80 cents a while back. Been looking for a red one for ages! I might cover up the button though, just have to find something suitable...

Baby, it's cold outside!

Everything but shoes and handbag is second hand, the trousers are really nice low waist version of these ones from tara starlet. But my buttons are blue, and the trousers are tagged KappAhl...

It's been a bit cold here lately, about 20 minus degrees on the outside, so I'm inspired to make myself a nice fur stole kind of thing. Something a bit like this one from posh girl vintage;

Too bad there was no fake fur for sale at the fabric store in this town. Maybe I'll run out for a bit when I visit my boyfriend in the neighbouring town on saturday? I just might.

How was you weekend by the way? Mine was pretty nice as my bf had cooked me a lovely dinner for when I got home after work on valentines day. Later we had drinks and went in the sauna as well. And tomorrow we're looking at more flats! Hope these ones are better than the last ones...

More finds

I've been really good this last week, no shopping, just spending time on transforming that piece of fabric I bought second hand into something wearable. Sewing is just so much fun! :)

Anyway, I haven't finished showing what I got at my last spree, so let's move on. I found another leopard purse, something like 50 cents for this one.

And a terriffic 70's bikini, only 20 cents!!

It appears I have started a small collection of slips and nighties. I don't think anybody else had shown any interest in these pieces for a loong time as the lady in the shop actually gave me the white one after I pointed out there was a small stain on it...

And the craziness continues. I bought a yellow slip too, or maybe it's a nightgown, which was way to big for me. But it was so cheap and so pretty. What am I gonna do with it? Beats me...

Today I'm pretty exited, because in a few hours me and my boyfriend are going to look at flats. That's right, we're moving in together! The actual move won't happen for another month and a half or so, but because of our shifts this is pretty much the only time we could go together for a look before the end of the month. Moving is pretty complicated when you have to give one months notice to the current landlord, which you cannot do before you're sure to have somewhere new to move to...But I'm sure everything will work out in the end.

Shopaholic warning

I must have spent almost 60 euros on clothes in the last week or so. It's not like me. A small consolation is that most if it was spent on second hand stuff where some of the money actually goes to charity...But today I wasn't gonna do any shopping. Just check out the sale and lack of shoes in my size in "Shoe stop". And would you believe it, they actually have a few pairs in size 35. But none i liked enough to spend 40-60 euro or more. But I will return...

After the quick shoe shop visit I had to see what was left of the sales...and ended up buying a very useful strapless bra and these supercute panties;

Also bought the flower pin for a mere 2 euros. But back to my crazy shopping spree. Last friday there was a sale at a charity shop in town that I hadn't been to before, so naturally, I had to go. Ehem. But I'm really glad I did, as I only spent 5 euros for about 10 items and found these;

Four pairs of vintage gloves!! After I got desperate enough to make my own, I go and find these for the ridiculous price of 50 cents each. Madness. But I'm pleased.

Saturday I went on a flea market tour in the town where my boyfriend lives ,while he was out to play tennis. This is when the madness started, as I found myself buying items in colours previously unseen in my wardrobe. These linen trousers for example. I love linen. Just didn't expect to wear anything orange...

The second crazy item was in pink, another colour I never wear normally. But how could I resist? I mean, look how cool it looks, teamed with my first attempt at a pill box hat, black gloves, a good skirt and nice shoes. I'd love to have a few more items that would make me feel this glamorous. Still need to work on that hat though.

My leopard print obsession continues. This bag cost me a fiver in the sales. The benefit - or curse? - of working in a supermarket is seeing all the sales stuff day after day after day...

I've got plenty more stuff to show from my out of control shopping spree, but this will have to do for now. Hope I've been able to spread some inspiration :)

Waiting to go out

I've been sewing a lot lately. I've made a pair of gloves and a muff which I have yet to photograph, and I finished this dress I mentioned a while back.

Wearing it here with the new shoes. I've also been round to a couple of second hand shops and made some great finds. First up a skirt that I might shorten a bit, I do like the fabric as it's a bit like thick linen or something.

I also found this checked red and white little blouse...

...And also a black and white checked shirt, teamed here with a cute handbag I got in the sale. I had it with me to the theatre last week when we went to see "Kiss me, Kate" the musical performed in Finnish. The handbag had such a theatre feel to it so I had to!

I've also been buying earring lately. The red ones I found in Tampere at the shopping centre we went to on the way back from Milan. The wooden ones I got in the sale, and I'm thinking about wearing them tonight at my bf's belated work x-mas party that I'll be crashing in about an hour...My bf liked my leopard dress so much that he requested that I'd wear it tonight, and so I will. Hope you all have a nice weekend!

New Old Skirts

I've bought a couple of skirts lately that I thought I'd show you. First up is the vintage black pencil skirt I got a few weeks back but never showed you, worn here with that handbag that I got from the same place, a second hand top from England and my new cherry necklace.

It appears I'm getting slightly influenced by all the cute blogger that wear a lot of bows, I've never really been into those but look at this, on saturday I found this brown leather skirt...with a little bow on the back.

Behold the quality, or lack there of, of my crappy old camera. The skirt from the front. 1€ it cost me, how could I resist?

Now this one I really couldnt resist, the lady in the charity shop gave it to me, as she was gonna put it in the "free stuff" box anyway, and since it was a couple of sizes too big. Hope me and my friend the sewing machine can fix that one.

I also bought two pieces of fabric in dark brown and dark blue corderoy, a sarong-like thingy to go with my bikini in the summer and two champagne glasses. At the moment I'm working on turning the brown fabric into a dress, wish me luck!

Cherries, finds and weekend plans

My new necklace, from the childrens dept. But I liked it, and the womens jewelery were so BIG, all of it, nothing for a petite Kitten like me. And the cherries didn't cost me much either.

The other day my intuition told me I should go to the Retro recyckling centre again, kinda hoping to find a nice stool to go with my make-up table. But no, no luck on that front, but what I did find got me pretty exited anyway. First, a set of retro sewing and fabrick colouring/printing books. I was thrilled, because I had been borrowing every book in sight about fabric printing and such that I could find in the library, without actually finding any really good books on the subject. And here I am, owning these inspiration sources - six books for 2 euros! Some day I'm gonna start printing...

In the handbag section I stubled upon this beauty:

It must be vintage because it smells just like the old cameras my grandmother gave me, the material even looks similar. And the attention to detail is amazing. I'm not 100% sure I will actually use it, because again, I'm rather petite and this bag is not...Plus the details are gold coloured, I'm a silver girl. But I had to have it, come on, it was 1€! It might start to live in my bookcase so I can admire it every day...

I also found a black pencil skirt, a bit boring but possibly very useful, and it looked vintage from the way it was made and the tag.

At the moment I'm pretty exited for the weekend, my bf is taking me skiing to Vuokatti, where we will be skiing inside a skiing tunnel and on the short outside skiingtrack - short, because there is only artificial snow there this time of the year. We will also be going out dancing on saturday night, dancing as in foxtrot and waltz, not clubbing, which should be fun even though were not that good...There is also a spa there, where we'll go swimming, winter bathing and enjoying the many saunas. I can't wait!
