Challenge accepted!

For the first time ever I've won a give-away, and my prize arrived in the post last week...Pin-up shopping related post-its! They are just too cute, and perfect for someone like me who likes to write lists, hah.

Zizzi, who's give-away I won, also gave me challenge, to show what odd things we have in our flat. Well, I had a look around and took a few pictures of things that you might not find in the average persons apartment...

First I should warn you, there's shoes and hats and dresses and thing all over the place, take this bookcase for example;

If you turn about 90° and look towards the kitchen, you'll see another pair of shoes (no, there's not enough room in my closet) a vintage 60's dress and a vintage clock, as well as my aprons.

A few steps forward and another turn and there's another vintage dress, and a fancy mask which I bought with the intention to steal the feathers and use them on a hat. And I will. Someday.

Back in the living room there's another book case not containing that many books. Instead it holds my vintage camera collection, some bags and, yes, shoes.

There's another book case with shoes and dvd's and actual books as well, but I don't want to make this post too long and make you loose interest now do I? So on to the next odd thing;

By the door to the balcony there is a garden-elf waiting for it to get warmer outside...And in a flower pot up and to the right is his much smaller distant cousin busy...fertilizing?

Hope you enjoyed this little peek into our flat, and that you've all had a nice Valentines day!

I love lamp

What a rainy day. It gets me down a bit but then I try to remind myself of how good my life really is at the moment. This time last year my life was far from it. I had just started my cleaning job, which at the time made me feel like I'd failed, me and my bf at the time were living on the small amount of money a part time job provides while we were waiting for his student money to come through. At the same time I was also adapting to being back in Finland, trying to help my bf to adapt and learn the language, take care of myself and him and the flat and I had a few design-deadlines just to top things off. In short, I was a bit stressed. No, I was very stressed.

But this time around things are so much better, my job is better and my flat is nicer, I've got a touch more money to live on and my new boyfriend is just great. I can't really ask for more can I?

Anyway, this post was supposed to be about my new lamp. Because I couldn't resist. It stayed on my mind and I kept imagining it hanging from the ceiling...So I went back for it. And now I'm in love. I had a feeling it was goint to be one of those things that would make me smile evey time I look at it. And it does.

These curtains are in the same category of thing that make me smile. They are my mum's old and I wanted to put them up now when it's getting darker. Six more suns should get me through the dark months don't you think?

Ah, I am so happy I went back for it!

Life on mars

So I got myself a flat to rent in the new town. It'll be cheaper and a little bit smaller than what I live in now, and everything in it is brand new, never been used. Here's the best bit - a walk-in closet! Or, really just a storage room but hey, close enough! Now I'm just wondering wether to put my full-size mirror in the closet, in the hallway next to it or in the smallish bedroom. Or maybe I'll just get myself a second mirror...
The other day I felt like doing my grocery shopping in 70's style, so I wore dad's old trousers along with mum's old leather jacket, which I use a lot anyway. Scarf is just some cheapish thingy from Matalan.
These beauties are one of my favourite buys of the summer, they only cost me € 10 from a flea-market I visited when camping in Kuopio. Not really suited for camping though, hah. A bit tricky to wear for longer periods of time, as the strings won't stay in place if moving around too much. The string marks on my legs were still visible the day after I wore these shoes for my bf's cousin's birtday party a while back. But I can't help loving them...

Summer tribute vol.2 and some big news

Big news first - I got a new job! Nothing fancy but nicer than cleaning. In about two weeks time I will be stocking shelves and helping customers in the home-department of a larger supermarket in Jakobstad. Feels great, I've worked in a shop before and enjoyed it, plus pay is better, shifts are better (only work every third saturday) and I get a discount!

New job means I will be looking for a new flat in the new town...Hopefully a bit cheaper than this rip-off I live in at the moment. I'm pretty exited but at the same time not so thrilled about the actual packing and sorting through stuff. Perhaps a wardrobe clean-out is in order...?

So this is my second summer tribute outfit - another one I never wore. Checked top is old from Halpa-halli, sunglasses and scarf from Prisma and the rest is my mum's old stuff. Dunno if I would actually feel comfortable wearing this, green-yellowish colours are not really my cup of tea normally. But hey, variation is always nice.
